Bangbao Fishing Village, Koh Chang

If you’re on the southern part of Koh Chang Island, then Bangbao Fishing Village is worth it. There are vendors selling souvenirs similar to that of other markets, restaurants over the water to have a good & inexpensive seafood meal. Other than that, it’s great walking around and admiring the houses built on stilts.

There’s also a long stretch that leads to a lighthouse at the end of the pier. When I was there, the lighthouse was open and it looked like you could climb to the top of it. The pier is lined on either side with fishing trawlers and excursion boats.

I was there just before sunset and I can’t tell you how peaceful it was. There weren’t many people because it was low season, and the water was calm.

It’s a great place to visit if you’re near that vicinity and it wouldn’t take you long to see it all. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s worth your time driving to from the more popular side of the island like White Sand Beach – unless you’re on the island for many days. Fortunately for me, I was staying at the Mercure Koh Chang Hideaway only a short ride away.
